Situated on the Shropshire, Worcestershire and Herefordshire border, the local area is highly suited to walking, rambling and hiking. Whether you are looking for a short stroll or a longer hike, there really is

something for everyone.

Walking in and near Tenbury Wells

Tenbury is a prime location for walkers. Situated on the borders of Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Shropshire and close to the Welsh Marches it offers the chance to explore some of the finest scenery in the country. The area also gave inspiration to some of the world’s leading writers and artists. There is information is available at the library and maps and books can be purchased at the Tourist Information Centre in Teme Street.

One popular walk around the area is the Teme Valley Trail, which takes you around Tenbury and the surrounding area. Malvern County Council have created several maps and guides to this walk as well as others in the area, all of which can be found here:

Walks in and around Ludlow

Ludlow is situated on the edge of the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is an ideal base for walkers wishing to explore the hills, valleys and forests of The Marches. Ludlow also offers gentler walking opportunities into the surrounding countryside and Whitcliffe Common, with its panoramic views, overlooks the castle and town - an essential visit for any newcomer to Ludlow.

There are numerous walking guidebooks and pamphlets available in the Ludlow Visitor Information Centre and local bookshops.

Walking in and around Cleobury Mortimer

The countryside around Cleobury Mortimer has some of the best rural landscapes in Shropshire, one of the most beautiful and unspoilt counties in England.

The Cleobury Mortimer footpath Association provide 24 walk leaflets to help walkers to explore this countryside. Some leaflets include a short and long option, and some can be combined to make longer walks giving the possibility of over 60 different walks from 1.5 to 12 miles. The walks start from Cleobury Mortimer or from easily accessible points in neighbouring parishes.

Shropshire

Way

The Shropshire Way Main Route is a long distance path covering not only the wonderful Shropshire Hills in the South, but also some of the historic towns and unique natural features in the North of the county.

The Shropshire Way covers over 297 miles of Shropshire’s finest countryside. Each mile is the result of a labour of love by our walkers. They show us their favourite footpaths, suggest beguiling little deviations, and even shar their favourite ‘private’ views. The route has been split into shorter routes and there is a leaflet for each of the 27 linear sections of the walk and for the 10 circular walks

Walking in the

Clee Hills

The Shropshire Way guides you over both Titterstone and Brown Clee and a circular walk has been devised around Brown Clee taking in Nordy Bank Hillfort – unusual as it only has a single rampart. Walk leaflets are also available on each hill.

Wyre Forest

There are so many walks to do in this wonderfully varied part of the countryside, from walking in the forest to the challenging Worcestershire Way.

Short Walks Include:

  • Ribbesford Circular Trail - a circular walk 2 miles from Bewdley into surrounding countryside, suitable for families, mobility vehicles and pushchairs.

  • Habberley Valley Circular Walk - 2.5 miles, a countryside walk between Bewdley and Kidderminster.

  • Bewdley to Forest of Discovery Walk - 3 miles incorporating Bewdley and the Wyre Forest.

  • Bewdley River and Rail Circular Walk - 4 or 8 miles, a riverside walk from Bewdley to Arley and either walk or catch a steam train back.

  • Upper Arley Circular Walk - 5 miles, follows part of the Worcestershire Way and takes in views from Abberley Hill.

  • Martley Circular Walk - 6.25 miles, taking in part of the Worcestershire Way and the Theme Valley.
